Elk River Youth Softball is excited to announce that we are beginning the search for a paid Pitching Coordinator to support players and coaches throughout our program.
This new position reflects our continued commitment to player development, coach support, and the long-term growth of Elk River Youth Softball. The Pitching Coordinator will provide consistent instruction for players from 8U and up while partnering closely with our volunteer coaching staff to strengthen pitching development across every age level.
Adding this position moves our association another step closer to our goal of creating a unified, year-round development program that gives young athletes the instruction, confidence, and opportunities they need to succeed.

Pitching Coordinator (Description)
Elk River Youth Softball is seeking a passionate and experienced Pitching Coordinator to lead pitching development for players from 8U through the oldest age levels in our program.
The ideal candidate will have experience pitching at a competitive high school, club, and/or collegiate level, along with a strong desire to teach, mentor, and inspire young female athletes. This individual will help develop both beginning and experienced pitchers while creating a consistent pitching-development approach throughout Elk River Youth Softball.
The Pitching Coordinator will also serve as a resource and partner to our volunteer coaching staff, collaborating with coaches to ensure that pitching instruction, drills, terminology, and development priorities are reinforced throughout the program.
Primary Responsibilities
- Plan and lead organized, age-appropriate pitching-development sessions.
- Teach proper pitching mechanics, fundamentals, warm-up routines, and healthy pitching habits.
- Help beginning pitchers learn the pitching motion and build confidence.
- Help experienced pitchers improve accuracy, command, velocity, movement, consistency, and game preparation.
- Provide players with positive, constructive, and individualized feedback.
- Provide drills and instruction that players and coaches can reinforce outside scheduled sessions.
- Partner and collaborate with volunteer coaches to support pitching development across all age groups.
- Communicate with coaches regarding player progress, developmental needs, mechanical concerns, and recommended drills.
- Help volunteer coaches build their knowledge and confidence when working with pitchers during regular team practices.
- Promote consistent pitching terminology, instruction, and expectations throughout the program.
- Create an encouraging environment that helps young athletes grow in confidence, ability, and love for the game.
- Help Elk River Youth Softball develop a deeper and more sustainable pipeline of pitchers.
Seasonal Schedule
The Pitching Coordinator will provide approximately two hours of instruction per week during the following seasons:
- Fall Season, August–September: Two one-hour sessions per week, with one session for 8U and 10U players and one session for 12U and older players.
- Winter Development Season, December–February: One 4 hour Saturday session per week, divided between the younger and older age groups.
- Spring/Summer Season, March–July: Two one-hour sessions per week, with one session for 8U and 10U players and one session for 12U and older players.
Fall and spring/summer sessions will generally be held immediately before or after regularly scheduled team practices. The specific schedule will be coordinated with program leadership and the volunteer coaching staff.
Preferred Qualifications
- Competitive pitching experience at the high school, club, and/or collegiate level.
- Strong knowledge of fastpitch pitching mechanics and player development.
- Previous coaching, instructional, clinic, or private-lesson experience preferred.
- Ability to work effectively with both beginning and advanced pitchers.
- Passion for teaching and mentoring young female athletes.
- Ability and willingness to partner with volunteer coaches and serve as a program-wide pitching resource.
- Positive, patient, dependable, and encouraging coaching style.
- Strong communication, leadership, and collaboration skills.
- Commitment to helping grow and strengthen the Elk River Youth Softball program.
- Ability to pass required background checks and complete required youth-sports training.
Compensation
This is a paid seasonal staff position with an estimated annual commitment of approximately 80-90 hours.
Compensation will be discussed with interested candidates and will be based on experience, qualifications, availability, and the final scope of the position.
